Sharing your bank account information using consents.online
Securely share your bank account information to progress your credit application using Open Banking.
Find out moreOpen Banking allows you to securely share your bank account information with a company, or app, that requests it. It is a government initiative developed in partnership with UK banking institutions to offer consumers more control of their finances and access to a wider choice of products and services.
We (Creation) need a bit more information to help us make a final decision on your application – to either verify your identity or provide us additional data around your income or expenditure (or both). Information from your banks / building societies will help us make this decision.
Without your bank account information we may not be able to accept your finance application – or you could be referred which will mean it’ll take longer for us to give you a decision.
consents.online have been selected as a trusted partner to assist Creation in receiving the required information. consents.online work with organisations to help you provide your data online – quickly, simply and securely.
We’ll pass the details from your application to consents.online to help identify you. You’ll then be redirected to your bank account provider where you’ll log in and consents.online will request account information from your bank. At no point do consents.online record or store your bank account login details. For further details, please follow this link.
consents.online work in a very secure way and follow global security standards. Protecting your data is their priority, so they have strict and appropriate policies in place. consents.online are required to meet certain criteria to be registered with the Financial Conduct Authority in order to keep your data safe and secure. They also have to comply with the security standards that underpin Open Banking. For further information regarding consents.online privacy policy, please follow this link.
When you give your consent we’ll only access your account once, taking a snapshot of the data we need to support our decision making. This does mean that if you make a further purchase on your account we may ask you to share your account information again.
We won’t leave a marker on your credit file until we’ve made our final decision. You may see a soft footprint of the check on your file – but this won’t be visible to other lenders. We use this data in addition to bureau data to make our final decision.
You should add all personal current accounts that you use including joint accounts. This helps us get a full understanding of your ability to afford the product you’re applying for. You don’t need to add business accounts or savings accounts.
If you’re having problems accessing your personal current account login details, please reset them if it is quick to do so. Otherwise your best option is to return to the screen asking you to connect your account and select ‘Don’t connect to bank account’.
It’s optional to create an account. A consents.online account will allow you to view all the businesses you’ve given permission to access your data, to help you manage that access. As we’re only accessing your data as a one-off, rather than on an ongoing basis, there is no ongoing management needed so it is up to you if you want to create an account.
If you already have a consents.online account you’ll see this access logged within it.
